AMMONIUM SULFATE – Agricultural Fertiliser

Composition, Appearance and Properties:

Ammonium sulfate is a white to greyish crystalline substance that is easily soluble in water. It contains min. 20.3% of nitrogen in the ammonia form and 24% of sulfur. The fertiliser tends to harden even with very slight changes in humidity and temperature, therefore a hydrophobising agent is added to it. At above 150 degrees C, ammonia is released and NH2SO4 arises . Bulk weight is around 900 kg/m3.

Chemical Composition::

Ammoniacal nitrogen as N in % min. 20,3 %
Moisture in % max. 1,5 %
Free Sulfuric Acid in % max. 0,2 %
Particles below 0,2mm in % max. 20,0 %

Application:

Ammonium sulfate is physiologically and chemically an acidic nitrogen fertiliser suitable for all crops on neutral soils. Regarding the rate of NH4 + nitrification, it is much slower than other nitrogen fertilisers and therefore suitable for basic fertilisation in the autumn. It is especially suited to crops that tolerate acid reaction (oat, rye, potatoes, etc.). For its sulfur content its importance grows especially in cruciferous (oilseed rape, mustard) and essence oil crop (hop, onion, etc.).
