AMMONIUM NITRATE - Agricultural Fertiliser
Composition, Appearance and Properties:
Ammonium nitrate is a nitrogen fertiliser with two forms of nitrogen. It contains 34 to 35% of N, half of which is in nitrate and half in ammonia form. The appearance of the crystals is dependent on the drying temperature. It is very hygroscopic and therefore often provided with protective surfaces. Physiologically neutral.
Chemical Composition::
Nitrogen content in % | N min. 34,0 % |
---|---|
1-3mm particles content in % | min. 95,0 % |
Particles below 1mm content in % | 3,0 % |
Particles above 10 mm in % | 0,0 % |
Application:
Ammonium nitrate 34% N is used for the spring regenerative additional fertilising of the winter crop, for the spring productive additional fertilising and, to a lesser extent, for the late qualitative fertilisation. The total amount of nitrogen (especially for winter wheat) is divided into several partial applications (split nitrogen dose). If possible, fertiliser is recommended to be incorporated into the soil. Ammonium nitrate is highly soluble in water and therefore suitable for preparing own liquid fertilisers in agricultural companies.
Fertiliser Application Dosis in kg/ha:
Winter wheat, Barley | 280 – 440 |
---|---|
Spring Barley | max. 280 |
Rye | 240 – 360 |
Oat | 200 – 240 |
Sugar Beet | 240 – 440 |
Potatoes | 320 – 440 |
Storage:
Ammonium nitrate belongs to a class A fertiliser group, ie fertilisers able to detonate with a flash point of up to 360 °C. In the case of organic matter contamination, the decomposition can turn in an explosion.
The fertiliser must be stored in dry, ventilated warehouses, protected from rain, direct sunlight, and unauthorised persons and children. No residues of organic matter (paper, sawdust, etc.) should be stored in the warehouse. Work with open fire is strictly prohibited.
